If you are not familiar with The Fox Valley Childrens Organization, it is a nonprofit organization specializing in the needs of mentally and physically challenged children. This organization gives kids that normally wouldn't have the opportunity to play baseball a place to play in a controlled surroundings. Last year the 13U Hurricanes came out to help out with the opening day ceramony. The Buddy Baseball Field is made of a Mondo surface, which is a rubberized material that allows walkers and wheelchairs the mobility to play baseball without any obstacles. Their Buddy Baseball program teams up challenged players with a guardian angel to assist if needed. The "Canes" players played along with the kids and helped dish out food for a great day at the ballpark.
